I got my wisdom teeth out on Friday. I am on an antibiotic. Can that cause a yellow coated tongue?

Yes, this is from the web site for one of the drugs used by dentist for this type of procedure.

What side effects can this medication cause?

Possible side effects from using amoxicillin may include:

nausea

diarrhea

Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

mild nausea vomiting

diarrhea

abdominal pain

white patches on the tongue (thrush/ yeast infection)

itching or discharge of the vagina (vaginal yeast infection)

'hairy' tongue or sore mouth

Yes some antibiotics can do that.

If it becomes a problem contact your doctor who will be able to offer you an alternative.
Reply:Yes, especially depending on which AB it is (... Penicillin VK, or maybe those yellow/red gel caps amoxicillin? Just wondering on the specifics on the medication).

It shouldn't be anything to worry about, but if it starts gnawing at the back of your mind, then just call your pharmacist. They'll reassure you. ;o)
Reply:yes you can always call your Dr. if you have any concerns because the after care is part of the charge.
Reply:You could have thrush. It's basicly a yeast infection in your mouth that often times infants get, but adults can get it too when on antibiotics. If you can handle it, rinse and gargle with salt water and also with a mouth wash, like Listerine. I had the same thing when mine we're removed.

Good luck!!!
