I'm on four 250mg a day Oxytetracycline tablets. Used for acne (even though my face isn't bad for some reason my face has become oily?)
Two Twice a day 250mg.
I've heard these make your teeth yellow? I know it's true, but I've only heard about it effecting children. If these are going to effect my teeth I am immediately ditching the lot and dealing with my problems in other ways.
Will these discolour my teeth? I have 102 tablets to go through. 4 a day. Is the course too short to do anything to my teeth? As much info as possible please.
All help appreciated. Thank you all.

Oxytetracycline... will these ruin my teeth?
FYI, TETRACYCLINE ONLY CAUSES YOUR ADULT TEETH TO TURN A DARK COLOR IF YOU TOOK THIS AS A YOUNG CHILD, SAY BEFORE 6 YEARS OF AGE.
IT WILL NOT NOW AFFECT YOUR ADULT TEETH.
Reply:Tetracycline used to be bad for your teeth.
Just Google it. There are a lot of sites about tetracycline and teeth.
Reply:you need to call Dr
Side effects
Side effects are mainly gastrointestinal and photosensitive allergic reactions common to the tetracycline antibiotics group.
Can also damage calcium rich organs such as teeth and bones although this is very rare, sometimes causes naval cavities to erode, quite common, the BNF suggests that because of this Tetracyclines should not be used to treat pregnant or lactating women and children under 12 except in certain conditions where it has been approved by a specialist because there are no obvious substitutes. Candidiasis (Thrush) is not uncommon following treatment with broad spectrum antibiotics.

Reply:Don't forget, all the side effects listed, do not appear in one day. It takes some time for skin pigmentation, yellow skin and itching to develop, but long time to get rid of as well.
