How long before cigarettes discolor ur teeth?

i started smoking about two months ago. i just quit a few days ago and i was wondering how long before your teeth become yellow from cigarettes? does it take years of doing it? will two months hurt it? i have braces on, do you think the 2 months of smoking will have a big effect on the stains when they're removed or should it be fine since it was only two months? i get my braces off in about a year and a half.

also, will the ortho know right away that any discoloration was caused from smoking, or is the discoloration the same as someone who drinks a lot of soda/tea or foods that can stain ur teeth? thanks

it takes a long time... you can get enamel staining from coffee, colas, tea and just about anything else that can cause staining. just be sure to brush floss and brush regularly and you'll be fine.
Reply:Right away. U should never smoke again. I bet ur teeth have already changed a couple of shades.
Reply:its pretty much the same discoloration. you might notice a little, but very small if any. good thing you quit.
Reply:It would take years of smoking to stain your teeth yellow. However, you should inhale the smoke quickly instead of holding the smoke in your mouth.

If there is any discoloration, just say you drink tea. Tea stains teeth very quickly if you drink 2 or more cups a day.
