Why are my teeth?

my teeth still yellow even after i brush them? i have tried all sorts, giving up coke(which i very rarely drink now) changing my toothpaste and i have tried whitening gels and stuff nothing works am stuck i am due for a 6 month check up soon what should i do cause i hate the way my teeth loook its horrible

Why are my teeth?
Well first of all Coke will not stain your teeth.

It can and will cause decay, the things that cause staining are things like curries, tea, coffee smoking etc.

Also genetics some people just naturally have yellow teeth.

You have two options:-

1. Veneers, this is were you have your natural tooth drilled down impressions taken and a week later have thin porcelain covers fitted over your teeth. This is a costly procedure which also involves lots of time in the dental chair, and a real commitment to your oral hygiene forever! I would not recommend this as you are drilling away at healthy teeth. Also they can stain so depending on your diet these in time my become yellow. Also they can fracture and need replacing.

2. Whitening, this involves having impressions taken and putting a whitening gel in trays every night for about 2 weeks. This also has its down sides.

Also very expensive, can cause VERY sensitive teeth as it thins the enamel, and the worst thing of all about this is that depending on your diet this can last only 6mths, if you are not eating things that stain your teeth then it can last 18mths +

Whatever you decide it needs lots of consideration and a good discussion with your dentist to decide what is the right thing to do.

Hope this is helpful.

Reply:Coffee smoking and red wine stain teeth ask your dentist they may need bleaching
Reply:when you go to your dentist you could ask about bleaching (whitening your teeth... they can do that for you I believe it may cost a bit but if you really are unhappy it cant hurt to ask. Otherwise you can keep trying different whitening products too but its up to you decide. brushing alone isnt going to take away yellow stains intstantaniously but over time it will help. I personally use the listerene whitening mouth wash and a whitening toothpaste and then every so often i will go get a different whitening product like Crest whitening strips. It helps. your teeth could be very stained depending on how long and often you drank coke, because coke is very acidic and probably doesnt help the enamel on your teeth. I think thats about all I can really say. This is my own personal view but I hope it helps you anyway.
Reply:go to the dentist and talk about bleachin
Reply:Your teeth are a yellow tinge due to your genetics. Actually the more (naturally) yellow they are, the more healthy they are, as often white white teeth are a sighn of thinness and lack of calcium.

Please dont compare your teeth with that of those in magazines, they are 99% airbrushed and re-colour-touched. Those on tv or in film have the blues in the picture brought out so their teeth are also artificially white.

I also hate how yellow my teeth are. But I also think that could be alot to me thinking about them and imaging I can change them. When I accept they are as yellow as they are and I cannot do anything to change that, I dont worry so much- if at all- though I change my mind on this on a daily basis!!

Just to add though, I havent tried whightening tooth pastes mysel but have heard from tried and tested groups that they make so little difference its almost pointless. Check out bbc watch dog on t'internet! Whitening gels work on the idea that they strip the teeth not only of the yellow colour, but also of the protective surface, so if you drink or eat anything discoloured- weather its a cup of tea, a glass of coke or an entrie 2 litre bottle of coke, its going to discolour your teeth, all the effoert gone to nothing. You really really have to just stop eating/drinking anything which will discolour teeth- like TOTALLY abstain as not only will it discolour teeth, it will discolour teeth more as teeth no longer have the same protection as they did before the gel was used.

I'd advise seeing a dentist or specialist about this, but please lay off the coloured stuff if you want results. Be careful if you are thinking of having another whitening session as your teeth will be weaker than they were the last time and having them fall out has gotta be worse than having them yellow?!
Reply:the coloring of teeth are also linked to genetics. does your family members have discolored teeth? The teeth whitening system I used was the Crest white strips but it has to be prescription strength. Do not buy the ones they sell in the grocery stores. Get the Crest white strips that is only sold in dentist office. I live in Houston and the box costed $50. It really works and i got a lot of compliments on my pearly white teeth.
