Most likely it's tartar build up. You should have your Vet examine and determine if they need to be cleaned. If they do it does require general anesthesia. If your concerned about putting him/her under, try brushing. It won't get rid of the tartar that's already on there, but it will help any further accumulation.
My dogs teeth are really yellow (he is 10 years old) is that bad?
Yes, he needs a dental at the vets.
Reply:it could be bad u should take your old dog 2 a vet asap
Reply:All old dogs teeth are yellow. Unless the vet is worried, ignore it. However, if this is a serious concern, talk to the vet about a teeth-cleaning, but keep in mind this is quite an undertaking.
Reply:Bad dental health can cause many health problems for your dog. Especially one his age. You should go to a vet ASAP. My dog's vet quoted a couple hundred to clean hers, but you'll want to check with your vet. It's a small price to pay for your dog's health, not to mention the improvement on their breath, pee-u!
Reply:Well, another option, You should be able to just pick up a doggie toothbrush and toothpaste from your local vet!!
Reply:If your dog is 10 years old he doesnt have long to live anyway. It really doesnt matter what color his teeth are.
Reply:It depends on how bad they are. Seeing as how he is an older dog you should try and keep him away from being under anestesia. You could just go to the pet store and try to find some dental wipes. They are very similar to brush strips for people.
Reply:yea
Reply:If hes has bad breath as well, be concerned because this is a sign of un-friendly bacteria. If his breath is fine don't worry, as a dog gets older his teeth usually get yellower. I have a 14 yr old lab and a 11 month old collie.
Reply:Maybe it's because he's getting old or needed dental care
