Not necessarily. I suffer from severe enamel hypoplasia, and my teeth have never had yellow spots at all. It can be white, brownish, yellowish, or not look any differently at all. It's the thickness of the enamel that causes the problem, and the teeth are usually pitted and malformed looking. In most cases yellow teeth are due to staining, not enamel formation, although some medications can cause it as well. Color is only part of the enamel, and has little to do with the thickness.
Is it true that if you have thin enamel your teeth will look yellow?
Usually they are a little but yellow compared to normal teeth because if the enamel is thin the dentine underneath shines through, the dentine is yellowish colour.
Reply:Dentin, which is the substance beneath the enamel has more color to it. If it is yellow, then you will see more of it when the enamel is thin.
Why do you have thin enamel? Did you brush it off with a hard toothbrush?
Most people don't have thin enamel. The only case is if it were a natural defect or if it were eroded.
