Teeth can be whitened by several methods:
1. "Bleaching" which truly involves hydrogen peroxide
2. Veneers - artificial surfaces placed and glued on the tooth front surfaces (usually the top fronts first)
3. Caps or crowns - one or more teeth reduced in size and a new surface made to place over the top.
Bleaching is the easiest and cheapest. Several shades of whitening can be effecteed. Consult with your dentist.
There are off-the-shelf methods now sold in pharmacies that have overnight trays and solution to put in them. You sleep with the solution in them and the holder in your mouth. Use care to follow instructions. Irritation of gum tissue is a worry.
Veneers require a dentist and can cost a thousand or more dollars. They look great but may require careful treatment afterward to avoid popping them off from hard wear and eating.
Caps and crowns are rugged but are major dental commitment. Most dentists will not do this without health reasons.
Best of luck and get a professional opinion or two.
