My hamster's teeth is long!?

The bottom of my hamster's teeth looks like it's wiggly and she has really yellow teeth. I tried giving her wood chips from our front yard and it seems to work. Tell me how to make it white again or is it natural for hamster teeth to be yellow? Can i brush it? How can i make it shorter besides taking it to the vet. Oh and my hamster still can close her mouth but when i saw her teeth, it was not together! It was also a bit long and yellow! Please help me!

My hamster's teeth is long!?
Be careful giving the hamster wood chips and such out of your yard -- certain species of trees are poisonous and others might have pesticides on them that you don't know about. There are all kinds of chewing toys you can get at the pet store -- from wood blocks to edible houses. The hamster definitely needs many different toys and things to chew on as this is the only way to keep the growth of the teeth in check. Rodents (and rabbits) teeth continue to grow -- they must chew to keep them cut back. If they are too, too long or if they become too long, you will need to take it to a vet who specializes in rodents to have the teeth filed back. Under no circumstances should you try to do this yourself if you don’t have experience with it -- you can hurt the hamster. I wouldn't worry about the color, yellow is pretty normal for a hamster. But definitely stock up on chewable toys and such and that should do the trick if they’re not too grown out already.
Reply:i think they are supposed to be yellow, but for the length you can file them.
Reply:give her a bunch of chew toys, she should take care of the problem herself.
Reply:The teeth are supposed to be yellow.

You don't need to brush her teeth. Give her plenty of things to chew on, and they should shorten up. If they get longer, it'd probably be best to get her in to see a vet and get them clipped. Be sure to monitor the growth of her teeth. If they get too long, she'll need them clipped.
Reply:Yellow is normal, or at least all of my hamsters had yellow teeth. As for the growing, you said so yourself, by letting her chew, like rodents need to do, it took them down. Just stick with that.
Reply:Get her a thing from the pet store, they have chew toys they can chew to file down their teeth, They should always have something like that in their cage, otherwise it's really dangerous, Also, their teeth are normally yellow, I wouldn't brush them you could hurt their gums
Reply:I would buy your hamster something to chew on like a little salt block or even give him/her some peices of wood to chew on. Don't worry I used to have a hamster and I asked my mom and did some reseach to see if anything was wrong with him. It turns out that hamsters teeth are natureally long and it helps them if they chew on something hard. Good Luck!!! I hope that this helped!
Reply:they are supposed to be yellow

no you cannot brush them

DO NOT EVER take would wood from your yard as it is not safe they sell chews in petstores.

And if you want them to be smaller/shorter just give her a snack shack (sold at most petstores) and alot of wood chews
Reply:The teeth are supposed to be yellow. As for them being long, you can get special toys for hamsters that allow them to gnaw and file their teeth down.
Reply:I had a hamster that once every 2 weeks i had to get his teeth cut at the vet. But after 2 1/2 years i had to put him down. His teeth where so mess up he couldn't eat.
Reply:well i dont know about hamsters but guinea pigs need vitiman c or your problem pops up. the only thing you need to worry about in my opinion is if they stop eating
Reply:try giveing her a hard dog biscuit for her to chew on :-)
Reply:Naturally hamster teeth are yellow, it's OK to get woodchips from your yard AS LONG AS YOU freeze them for 1-3 days! This kills all the fungus and bugs on them. Make sure the wood is not from a cedar or pine tree! You can also buy chewing toys at a pet store! Stock up on chewing toys so that your hamsters teeth don't get long like you said! Give her atleast 3 in her cage. If your hamsters teeth get really long go to the vet and the vet will clip them. Good luck! :)
Reply:It is natrual for hamsters to have yellow teeth. But you could always see a vet to get the teeth shortened. I don't know about the wiggly teeth. Also you need to buy a chew toy for them you can find some cute ones at Petco.
Reply:well you need to get on this right away or it could get really bad first give it a chewie and that will help!!
