dogs' teeth is kept clean by gnawing on bones and hard dog food. (a supply of water with the hard dog food.)

you can buy dog bones at the butcher's. sometimes you even get them free.
Reply:take the dog to the vet, and have them clean the teeth, about 1 hundred bucks, but its worth it, then give your dog a bone and brush!!! and most vets will work on payments for you, they love dogs in there work!!!!~
Reply:Once teeth are covered in plaque only a teeth cleaning can remove it, get her teeth cleaned and then brush. I've feed different treats and chewies but have never found any that really keep teeth clean. I clean my dogs' teeth as needed at home and brush them often. Some of the rawhides that have the teeth cleaning stuff in them seem to work better than reg rawhides. Some people swear by raw chicken wings etc but I've fed them and not had their teeth any cleaner. Dogs are not cheap to own, if you can not afford or do not want to pay for basic care rehome the dog.
Reply:AT target and Walmart ive seen these green little bones that are especially made for removing plaque (thats the correct way to spell it) and it has flavors so i think she'll like it [:

Hope it helps
Reply:A teeth cleaning done by a vet isn't expensive. That's the best way to get her teeth cleaned quickly, because they can sedate her so they can do it in peace.
Reply:trust me, cheap now = more expensive in the long run. Call around to a few different vets to look at getting her teeth prfessionally cleaned. like Sonny said- its about $100. save up- if its just a little plaque then take a couple months and save up the money. If you do this now it will prevent dental and gum diseases which are not pretty. they will eat away and rot the dogs teeth and cause foul odor and excessive drooling and gum disease can lead to more medical issues. I know this because we adopted a stray cat that only had about half its teeth and I just gave her dental treats figuring it would help. she had obviously NO care from her previous owner because i ended up taking her to the vet because she started droolnig this yellowish drool everywhere, 3 of her teeth were infected (cost me over $160). Dont neglect your dog like someone did my poor cat, teeth cleaning is really important. Toothbrushing and rawhides only prevent and slightly reduce plaque they wont get rid of it. Plus if the dog hates tooh brushing, the vet will put him out during the cleaning procedure and the puppy will just wake up with fresh breath and clean teeth :)
Reply:Cut the crap and excuses. If you do not have the financial resources to provide proper care for a pet, then you have no right to have one!

It is your dog's RIGHT BY LAW to receive proper medical care and to deny it is abuse. If you can afford a cell phone, a pizza, or a new pair of shoes then you can afford a visit to the vet. Get a second job if you have to, but get that dog to the vet! Preferably a board-certified vet that specializes in dentistry. That way, if a problem IS found during the session, it can be taken care of immediately and you will not have to re-schedule for another session (thus not paying twice and having your dog undergo anesthesia twice). My cat went in for a simple teeth cleaning and they found a broken tooth. He was much happier afterwards.

Rawhide chews and tooth brushing are fine for daily care and to slow down the buildup of plaque, but they are not the final solution. Only a proper cleaning will remove the plaque off your dog's teeth.

Stop procrastinating and get your dog to the vet!
